Frequently asked questions
1. is a solar roof a photovoltaic roof?
Yes. Under these names is the same integrated solution that combines the features of a real solid roof with photovoltaic function.
2. why is an integrated roof better than a roof with photovoltaic panels?
First, the look: you get a modern designer roof with a timeless design that can give the impression of a solid glass surface, without aluminum frames.
Secondly, the structure: you do not double load the structural elements of the roof truss. The solar roof panel does not lie on top of the roofing, but replaces the roofing.
Third, there is no risk of damaging the roof: the installer (roofer) enters the roof only once and installs only one device on it, instead of interfering with the existing roofing.
3. if I have a solar roof, will I be a prosumer?
Yes. A prosumer is any person who generates electricity from renewable energy sources. He can store it and transfer the surplus to the power grid. With our solar roof and the appropriate agreement with the power utility, you will become a prosumer.
4. is the solar roof safe?
Yes. When properly installed by an experienced team, a solar roof is completely safe. We install optimizers in all our installations to guarantee safe and trouble-free operation.
5. how much time will it take me to operate the photovoltaic roof?
The innovation of our solution is that it is completely maintenance-free. Electricity is produced without your intervention.
6. can I use the MyRoof system to renovate an existing roof?
Yes, you can. We will tailor the design to your expectations.
7. Does it take longer to build a solar roof than a regular roof?
No. The installation time of the MyRoof solar roof is analogous to the construction time of a regular roof.
8. is there a solar roof monitoring system?
Yes. And at the same time, you can control the efficiency and correctness of the operation with a simple and intuitive application on your smartphone, even when you are on vacation very far from home.
9. what is the lifespan of a solar roof?
The MyRoof solar roof is as durable as traditional roofing. After 30 years, you will still have more than 87% of its initial output.
OTHER:
1.What is photovoltaics?
As you are well aware, the term photovoltaics refers to a way to convert energy from the sun into electricity. The process is quite simple. Photovoltaic panels convert the sun's radiation into direct current, and then an inverter converts it into alternating current - the kind you have in your outlet. In this way, solar energy can be used to power all the electrical appliances in your home.
2. how can I use photovoltaics?
You can order a superstructure on your roof in the form of photovoltaic panels, or in an integrated form, where photovoltaic panels also act as roofing (BIPV - Building Integrated Photo voltaics), such as the MyRoof system.
3. is the solar roof environmentally friendly?
Yes. A very important criterion in the design of our solution was precisely the safe environment. Because of the lack of frames around the panel, MyRoof uses less metal, and by replacing part of the roofing with the panel, the whole building is lighter.
4. what about the effectiveness of the solar roof on cloudy and rainy days?
In this case, you will benefit from excess energy generated on sunny days and stored in the grid or batteries.
5. what electrical device can be powered by energy from the sun?
All of them! After passing through the inverter, the current from your solar roof does not differ in parameters from that from the power plant. So all the electrical appliances you have at home will work properly.
6. Can a photovoltaic roof be installed on industrial or commercial buildings?
Yes, our technology is not afraid of economies of scale. The MyRoof system can cover even very large objects.
7. what documents do I need for the installation ?
When you decide on our solution, you will receive comprehensive assistance. We will check the structure of the roof truss, the technical conditions of the power connection and all other parameters. You will receive all the documents you need to make your photovoltaic roof work for a long, efficient and trouble-free time.
8. can anyone connect to the electricity grid as a prosumer?
Yes. Anyone who wants to produce energy for their own needs (as defined by the RES Act) can set up an installation with a capacity not exceeding 50 kW. And the power utility is obliged to store from us the surplus electricity produced.
9. After what time will the cost of purchasing a solar roof be recouped?
It depends. Larger installations with more power and in places where the sun shines more often will pay for themselves faster than smaller, less powerful installations in places where there are fewer sunny days per year. Our consultant will help with the appropriate calculation.
10. do I need a permit for a solar roof?
No. If your installation does not exceed 50 kW, you do not need a permit. All you need is a design that we will provide you with.
11. does the solar roof need to be reported to the utility company?
Yes, your intention to install a solar roof must be reported to the power utility before the construction work begins. The installation of a solar roof should also be reported to the energy supplier so that it will replace your electricity meter with one that works in both directions. That is, it will measure how much energy you used and how much you gave back to the grid.
12. Do I have to report to the Fire Department in connection with the purchase of a solar roof?
Yes, for installations of 6.5 kW and more there is an obligation to notify the State Fire Service. From us you will receive an agreed design.
13. what is an inverter?
An inverter, also known as an inverter, is a device whose main task is to convert direct current (such is produced by solar cells) into alternating current (such is what you have in your outlet).
14. do I need an additional meter to install an integrated solar roof?
Not additional, but different: every prosumer must have a two-way meter installed before starting a photovoltaic installation. A two-way meter counts the amount of energy taken from the power utility and the amount of energy produced. Such a meter will be installed by the power utility after signing the prosumer contract.
15. Is the professional who installs MyRoof qualified?
Of course! The roofer who will install the photovoltaic roof at your place is properly trained by our company, as evidenced by the appropriate certificate.
16. why is mdm NT a proven solar roof supplier?
The mdm NT company has been producing roofing accessories and membranes for 28 years. We have used the experience and knowledge gained during this time to create an integrated solar roof. The unique design of the roof, developed together with roofers, allows the roof to be installed quickly, while ensuring its safety and durability.
17. is it possible to make a roof corner or roof surface triangular or trapezoidal using the MyRoof system?
Yes. The roof consists of an active part made of panels, and a passive part designed by MyRoof, and made by the installer. The material for the passive part can be made according to guidelines and expectations from virtually any available roofing material.
18. what does the active and inactive part of the roof mean?
The active part of the roof is the one covered with solar panels, and therefore producing electricity. The inactive - covered with other roofing material.
19. what is the inactive part covered with?
The inactive part of the roof can be covered with virtually any material. The MyRoof roof design, which we draw up before installation, can incorporate virtually anything you desire.
20. what power does the MyRoof have?
The power depends on the number of panels used. Therefore, it is worthwhile, if you have a large roof, to opt for a large installation (with more panels). Large installations also pay for themselves faster.
21. is full formwork required for the MyRoof system?
Yes. The roof on which you want to install the MyRoof system should have full OSB boarding of the entire slope.
22. will a special membrane go under MyRoof?
Yes. We have developed a special roof membrane for the MyRoof system. We use a system membrane, specially designed and tailored for the MyRoof system.
23 - Is MyRoof resistant to hail?
Yes. The panels used in the MyRoof system are resistant to hail, as confirmed by the international IEC 61215 certificate, which confirms that these panels will not be damaged even by 25 millimeter hail falling at 23 m/s. This parameter corresponds to class 2 hail resistance (on a 5-point scale used mainly in Western countries).
